2012 will long conjure up memories of the Jubilee and the London Games but it was also a significant year when new hotel construction in the UK hit a new peak for the last decade at around 18,000 rooms. The biggest winners in 2012 were Premier Inn, Travelodge, IHG, Hilton and Accor.
